Volunteers are an important part of our effort to fight food insecurity in Eastern North Carolina. 

Step One: Create a Volunteer Hub.com account.

Create a username and password. From this account, you can register for volunteer opportunities, track your volunteer hours, and much more!

Step Two: Fill out the volunteer application.  

Once you have created account scroll down to the application. Please be sure to read over each waiver. 

Step Three: Register for events.

Register for events through your Volunteer Hub account. Below you can see a sample of the current volunteer calendar of events that you can register for.

Things to know before coming out:

   
Registration is required prior to coming out!
Do NOT come to volunteer if you feel ill in any way, no matter if it’s a cold or minor sickness. We want to keep our staff and other volunteers safe and healthy.
NO flip flops or sandals – You will not be allowed to volunteer in the warehouse without proper shoes, such as sneakers. (Crocs are not accepted shoe wear)
NO tobacco use is allowed on the property – includes vaping products.  
NO cell phone use at any time in the warehouse. No charging of personal phone in the warehouse (Please ask a Food Bank employee to take a picture of your group if you would like one taken).
Please check volunteer calendar for days we are closed to the public/ volunteers

 Frequently Asked Questions

 Do I need to register before coming out?

Yes.  As an individual volunteer, please register on our Volunteerhub website; fba.volunteerhub.com. This allows us to know how many volunteers will be in the warehouse. 

 Does everyone in my group need a Volunteer Hub account?

No. The Point of Contact for the group will be the one who needs to have a Volunteer Hub account, they will specify total number in the group under their event registration.

Is there a place to leave my valuables/ bag during volunteering?

As a general rule, we recommend people leave valuables locked inside their vehicles during volunteering.

 Can I leave early?

We encourage all volunteers to arrive on-time and stay for the full session. If there is a scheduling issue to where you need to leave a little early, please let the warehouse staff you are assigned to know. 

What is the minimum age for youth volunteers?

Volunteers 12 years and older are welcome to volunteer. Volunteers under the age of 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while at the Food Bank. No child under 16 may be dropped off at the Food Bank without parental supervision.

 Who do I talk to about getting a community service letter?

The Volunteer Coordinator, Kayla Collins, who can provide a letter on Food Bank letter head for both school and court appointed community service once hours are completed. 

I need court ordered community service hours, when can I volunteer?

When creating your VolunteerHub account, select “I need court ordered community service”. Once the Volunteer Coordinator approves your account, you will get an email saying you can register for events open to court ordered community service volunteers on the VolunteerHub website. 

 Something came up and I can’t volunteer today, what do I do?
Please go to Volunteer Hub and cancel your registration or contact the Volunteer Manager.
