New Home for the Food Bank
[Return to Home Page or News and Events]

In May of this year, we moved to our new 20,000 square foot facility on our own 2.2 acres of land on Tidewater Way off Weeksville Road in Elizabeth City. Click here if you'd like to see more pictures of our new home.

Okay, so maybe it's not so new now,
but we still love showing it off!

The Food Bank of the Albemarle never had a real home until now! For years, we have bounced around from one rented or borrowed building to another. Our last warehouse facility was only 5,000 square feet - 3,400 square feet being warehouse and storage space. You can imagine the organized chaos there was when you consider that we still moved over one million pounds through there!  Office space was limited - two or three persons to an office and a computer, freezing cold or sweltering heat, a homemade cooler, small walk-in freezer, cramped pantry - yet all through that, our volunteers kept coming. What a dedicated, caring group we have had over the years! THANK YOU.

We still owe approximatley $200,000. If you would like to join the  many individuals, businesses, churches, as well as the State of North Carolina, Philip Morris Company, Miller Brewing, Kraft Foods, Inc. and the Cannon Foundation, please send a check or money order to:
