What is Kids Cafe? (download brochure (.pdf 704k))
Kids Cafe is an after-school program designed to provide children ages
5-12 with a healthy evening meal, help with their homework, and education about
nutrition. Our goal is to supply physical, mental, and emotional nouishment which
is critical to healthy development. Our first Kids Cafe is designated for students
who attend Sheep-Harney Elementary School. The program is conducted Monday through
Friday, from 2:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on days school is in session.
Why Kids Cafe?
In the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Public School system, over 55% of the students rely on schools to provide one or two meals a day.
Hungry children cannot concentrate ... on tasks that teach them basic skills. (Food Research and Action Center)
