Can I Help?
There are lots of ways to help out the Food Bank!

Food Donations
Food donations are always welcome.  Among the things we need: canned meat, vegetables, juices, pasta, fruits, diapers, cereal, rice, and beans.

Virtual Food Drive

If you don't have time to collect food or bring it to your Food Bank, you can always have a virtual food drive.  A virtual food drive uses the power of the internet to enable generous donors to collect for the Food Bank. But, instead of delivering them to the Food Bank, the donor sends a donation via a secure web site for the cost of the items.  The tax-deductable donated amount is charged to the donor's designated credit card and a receipt is sent to the donor and the Food Bank.  A virtual food drive can be conducted by an individual or an organization.  If you would like to learn more contact us via email, call us, or try it yourself by clicking here.

Money Donations
If you would like to make a donation, please send a check or money order to:

The Food Bank of  the Albemarle
PO Box 1704
Elizabeth City, NC 27906-1704

or bring it by the central office on Weeksville Road! Please call 252-335-4035 for directions to our office at 109 Tidewater Way in Elizabeth City, NC.

Volunteer Work
We can always use volunteers!  We have several volunteer positions available including intake worker, office assistant, public relations ambassador, pantry assistant, warehouse assistant, driver, and more.  (Our "Volunteer Job Descriptions" page contains more info about each of these positions.)   If you would like to help us help others, fill out our "I'd like to help!" online form and we will contact you with more information as soon as possible.

Spread the Word

  • One in every five persons in Northeastern North Carolina lives in poverty.
  • Poverty in our regions ranges from 5 to 10 percent higher in our area than the national average.
  • The majority of the households living in poverty are the "working poor" who simply cannot earn enough to make ends meet
Help us spread the word that people in our own communities need help!  Invite us to talk to your club, school, or church.  Plan a special event of your own to benefit the Food Bank.  Remind your friends that we need their help.
