The vision of the Food Bank of the Albemarle is that one day our communities will be hunger free.  This vision will be accomplished by being committed to providing direct assistance, support, services, advocacy and education to individuals and non-profit agencies to alleviate hunger and poverty while being good stewards of the gifts entrusted to us.

Rural Delivery Program

The rural delivery program distributes food to over 130 affiliated non-profit 501(c) (3) and faith-based agencies in the 15 counties that the Food Bank of the Albemarle serves.  Over 70% of the agencies require our delivery due to distance or lack of proper or adequate transportation.

Mobile Food Pantry

On May 1st, 2008, the Food Bank of the Albemarle rolled out the Mobile Food Pantry program to address the underserved and unserved areas of our region.  Since that day, we have deployed the mobile food pantry over 175 times in almost two thirds of our service area.

Government Commodities

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP also known as Government Commodities) is a Federal program that helps supplement the diets of low-income Americans, including elderly people, by providing them with emergency food and nutrition assistance at no cost.
