Volunteering
It has been said that volunteers don’t get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they are PRICELESS. Writer and anthologist Terri Guillemets says, “The world is hugged by the faithful arms of volunteers.” And, no one understands all this more than those of us who work at the Food Bank of the Albemarle.
Want to spend time with your family and friends while making a difference in your community?
Call us today and offer a few hours of your time to work with the staff and other volunteers at the Food Bank of the Albemarle.
Individuals and groups are needed year-round for a variety of positions. Whether it's for a couple hours or an entire day, we can use your help! Please sign up to volunteer here.
Once you have signed up, a quick and simple orientation is all it takes and you will be on your way to the same rewarding experience. Orientation is scheduled on Modays at 3:30 PM-4:00 PM and Wednesdays from 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM. Please review the Volunteer Guidelines and Safety Rules prior to your orintation.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The Food Bank of the Albemarle is open non-holiday weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. We always need volunteer help during those hours.
We realize that there are many people and groups who would like to volunteer, but their work schedule conflicts with the regular Food Bank hours of operation. So, in addition to our regular hours, the Food Bank will be open - on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM and until 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Please make arrangements to volunteer on these days with our Volunteer Coordinator, Laura Williams at 252-335-4035 x. 105 or lwilliams@feedingamerica.org
We welcome your help during our expanded hours as well as during our regular hours.
