What A Team!

We recently tabulated some data for our Annual Report which was published on February 15th 2008.  Together, we are providing a great deal of food to the hungry in our communities.  In our 06/07 fiscal year, 84 individuals, 77 businesses, 4 government agencies, 32 churches, 58 organizations, and 10 farmers donated food to the Food Bank.

From a financial donations perspective the numbers are just as impressive.  We were helped by 716 individuals, 112 businesses, 10 government agencies, 51 churches, 6 foundations, and 53 organizations.

Many, many volunteers also contributed their time to the Food Bank and the Albemarle Food Pantry.  Last year there were 1,749 volunteer sessions and they contributed over 5, 451 hours.

Thanks to Ace Hardware in northeast North Carolina, the Food Bank will be able provide approximately 45,000 pounds of food to help the hungry and needy men, women, and children in the communities we serve.  The picture shows Mr. Bill Pitts, owner of Ace Hardware stores in Manteo, Avon, Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Corolla, and Elizabeth City, presenting a check for $9,000 to Liz Reasoner, the Executive Director of the Food Bank.  The tournament, held at Kilmarlic Golf Course in Currituck County, brought together players from across the region and even southeastern Virginia, to enjoy a great (but windy) day of golf.  Our thanks to Ace Hardware, Kilmarlic Golf Course, the hole sponsors, the players, and the volunteers who working together made the first-ever Food Bank of the Albemarle golf tournament a rousing success.  More pictures will be posted shortly.
